INNOVATION WAS OUR STARTING POINT. AND WE’VE NOT STOPPED SINCE.
The year was 1955 and resourceful employees at the Ennstal agricultural co-operative had just developed a brand new product: long-life milk in a jar. It wasn’t long before they came up with the perfect name: Maresi, the nickname for Maria Theresa.
We have never lost the name or the innovative spirit. But we’ve added a lot to the long-life milk product along the journey, the invention of the Knabbernossi snack sausage in 1979 being just one example.
The company group has grown in several stages. On the one hand, by establishing subsidiaries in the CEE region, and on the other, by acquiring food brokers in our own region. Today, we’re located in Vienna, Prague, Bratislava, Budapest and Bucharest. From there, 55 million consumers are supplied with consumer goods of the highest quality. The group’s turnover amounts to around 146 million euros per year.
As a certified food broker, MARESI Austria and its four subsidiaries in the CEE are responsible for the growth of 58 partner brands, which contribute around 90% of the total turnover there. Romania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Hungary are all provided for with strong Austrian brandsincluding top international brands in the food and non-food sectors.
